Social Responsibility

Asterisk is a Nepal based handicraft company. In order to support the Nepali handicraft industry and give employment opportunities to the deprived community members, particularly women and ethnic groups. Asterisk was founded in 2010 as a family-run handicraft company. This was done with the goal of empowering these individuals on the social and economic fronts and providing them with benefits like health care and education for their children. Our training programs, which equip them with the necessary skills for their jobs inside the organisation, help them lead normal lives.

Employee Benefit Programs

Occupational Health and Safety Trainings

We also conduct Occupational Health and safety training as per requirement. Prioritizing occupational health and safety trainings within our company is not just a legal obligation but a moral imperative. We understand that the well-being of our employees is paramount, and investing in comprehensive training programs is key to creating a safe and conducive work environment. Through these trainings, we aim to instill a culture of awareness, responsibility, and proactive risk management.

Menstrual Hygiene Management

Menstrual hygiene management training in the collaboration with Connection Nepal. Asterisk also conducted Menstrual hygiene management training to all the female staffs in collaboration with Connection Nepal. 

 

Pure and Safe Drinking Water

Pure, safe drinking water is provided in the factory office to ensure hydration and well-being among employees. This amenity promotes health and productivity throughout the workday, encouraging staff to stay refreshed and focused. It underscores the employer's commitment to employee welfare and creates a comfortable environment conducive to optimal performance. Also, proper water filter is used.

Mindfulness Training

As we all know that mental health is more necessary than physical health, Asterisk provides Anapana Meditation practice as Mindfulness training to the workers. We celebrated women’s day with Mindfulness training. 

Household Waste Management

We understand the importance of sustainability and environmental responsibility. Recently, we launched a comprehensive training program on household waste management tailored specifically for our factory workers. This initiative aims to educate our employees on effective waste sorting, recycling practices, and reducing household waste. By empowering our staff with knowledge and practical skills, we not only enhance their environmental awareness but also contribute to a cleaner, greener community. Through these efforts, we strive to promote a culture of sustainability within our organization, inspiring positive change both inside and outside the workplace.

Wash and Sanitation Program

With the motive to reduce the production of waste, we give priority to the household waste management. Beyond waste reduction and recycling, we also prioritize proper disposal of non-recyclable waste through responsible waste management practices. We adhere to all applicable regulations and guidelines to ensure safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Through regular audits and assessments, we continuously evaluate and optimize our waste management processes to minimize environmental impact and maximize resource efficiency.

Financial Literacy

Asterisk provides financial awareness to the workers, the Branch manager of Nic Asia bank shared about the Banking insurance and claim process to the workers who have accounts on the Nic Asia Bank. Also Asterisk provided the Initial Public Offering filling Training with the help of Sampanna Capital and Advisory Nepal. Asterisk has encouraged the staff for monthly saving programs to their staff in women’s cooperatives and also use financial instruments as per their requirements. 
 

Health Camp and Checkup

Asterisk has a biannual health checkup program in the office as well as, we distribute free emergency medicine to our staff and families. The health check of gynae and general medicine is focused by the doctors. 
 

COVID Support

The second wave of COVID made problems all over Nepal and on April 26, 2021 the Government of Nepal announced a second wave of lock down of Kathmandu and other major places of Nepal as a public health measure to help slow the spread of COVID-19. The second wave of lock down restrictions is still going on till date and the people of Nepal are afraid of the third wave.
Asterisk International Services was prompted to address the situation created by covid and distributed mask, Sanitizer, oximeter to all the employees and their family and other people like health workers, Police, social workers and frontlines. 

Free Lunch

At our workplace, free lunch for most staff and workers fosters a positive atmosphere and boosts productivity. The diverse menu in our cafeteria caters to various tastes and dietary preferences, encouraging colleagues to gather and interact over shared meals. This initiative not only saves time and money for employees but also enhances team cohesion and supports a healthier work-life balance, reflecting our commitment to employee well-being and creating a more productive work environment overall.

Festival Celebration

Asterisk International services takes special care of our employees. Time and again, we celebrate different national and international festivals in our office. These festivals help to refresh our staff and re-energize them. Every year we celebrate Women’s festival ( Teej Celebrations), Annual Picnic , Annual day celebration.
 

Interest Free Loan

Loans taken from Asterisk are interest free to all the employees. They only need to pay the amount they have taken.

Social Security Fund

Listed in the Social Security fund initiated by the Government from its inception in 2019.

Scholarship to Children

Asterisk supports children by providing scholarships to 5 students in association with Hoste Hainse every year.
Also we are supporting employees’ children for their education every year. Furthermore Asterisk is also supporting Sumala Rai, a differently abled girl for her living and education.
